Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian steakhouse chain, opened its second Valley location on Monday in Gilbert.
The new restaurant is located near Santan Village Parkway and Williams Field Road and offers both lunch and dinner during the week as well as brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday.
“We’re thrilled to continue our growth in Arizona with our new location in Gilbert,” Fogo de Chao CEO Barry McGowan said in a news release. “It’s exciting to bring our immersive dining experience to Gilbert’s diverse and growing population. Fogo has been a part of the Arizona community for 18 years and we look forward to welcoming both new guests and loyal Fogo fans to discover the culinary art of churrasco in a space that honors the rich traditions of Southern Brazil.”
During its first week, it is donating 10% of its sales to the organization St. Anne Friends of the Needy, which distributes emergency food boxes that are full of rescued food from grocery stores and donations.
The location was designed with Innovation & Design in Architecture to feature an open churrasco grill that allows customers to see gaucho chefs displaying the culinary art of churrasco, which involves butchering, hand carving and grilling cuts of protein over an open flame.
The fire-roasted cuts include bone-in ribeye, lamb chops and the house specialty picanha, which was described as a prime part of the top sirloin.
It also has a market table, an indoor Bar Fogo area and private dining spaces that guests can reserve.
An all-day happy hour is offered on Saturday and Sunday where eaters can get $6 handcrafted cocktails, $8 South American wines, $6 beers and different shareable dishes, such as the $10 picanha burger.
The Gilbert restaurant will be led by general manager Merhawit Keleta, who has been working for the chain since 2004, and used to serve as the general manager of the newly remodeled Scottsdale location.
There are a variety of menu options and prices for customers to choose from, including:
- The full churrasco experience – a prix-fixe menu that provides access to all premium and classic cuts, the market table, feijoada bar and Brazilian side dishes.
- Indulgent churrasco experience – the same options as the full churrasco experience with eaters’ added choice of an enhancement, such as a butter-bathed lobster tail, black truffle butter, all jumbo lump crab cake or roasted bone marrow, and a decadent dessert.
- Weekday lunch starting at $18 – the market table, feijoada bar and family-style service of Brazilian side dishes. Customers can also choose to add a single cut of fire-roasted meat or the full churrasco experience.
- Weekend Brazilian brunch – the full churrasco experience but with Brazilian-inspired brunch dishes like Braised Beef Rib Hash and made-to-order waffle and omelet stations.
Kids who are under the age of 6 eat free at Fogo de Chao while children aged 7-12 can get the full churrasco experience for half price.
