Cheba Hut, a sandwich chain that originated in Tempe, is set to open a new location in south Scottsdale next week, it announced Monday.
The restaurant starts serving customers on Monday, Oct. 26, near Scottsdale and McDowell roads and will be the chain’s 13th shop in metro Phoenix. It will also be franchise owners Justin and Michelle Lemos’ fifth opening in two years.
“Long before we owned a Cheba Hut, we were regulars who came in for the best sandwich we’d ever had and stuck around for the music, the art and a crew that actually loved being there,” Justin Lemos said in a news release. “Those folks are still what it’s all about for us. We promote from within and hire locally, so every opening creates a path for someone on our team to step into something bigger.”
The eatery serves more than 30 signature toasted subs with the White Widow and Kali Mist being recognized as popular options. It also has pretzel nugs, garlic cheese bread, Krispy Bars, goo balls and cookies.
Additionally, the location will have a full-service bar with liquor, beer and wine.
Every Cheba Hut location’s walls have paintings on them that tell a story. The south Scottsdale shop’s artwork will have a depiction of Old Town as if it’s out of an anime series done by Joshua Finley, who has painted 50 Cheba Hut locations around the nation.
Besides being a restaurant, the space will showcase creations from local artists and creators, including Aubri Swell and Basile Taylor.
The location will be open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
