PHOENIX – A Scottsdale high school was placed on temporary lockdown Wednesday morning as police responded to an unspecified threat.

“We have numerous police units at Chaparral High School related to a threat made to the school. The school is on lockdown and officers are actively clearing the campus,” the Scottsdale Police Department said in a social media post at approximately 9:40 a.m.

Police asked the public to stay away from the school, which is located at 6935 E. Gold Dust Ave., near Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard, until they gave the all-clear.

Two searches of the campus were completed by around 10:15 a.m. with no credible threat being found, police said.

“Scottsdale PD has given the all-clear at Chaparral HS. There is no threat. Students will be released at 12:20 p.m. today as usual for early release,” the Scottsdale Unified School District said in a statement.

Scottsdale high school wasn’t only target of recent threats

Authorities have been responding to a spate of threats against Valley schools in recent weeks, making multiple arrests.

However, no attacks have been carried out.

Two students were arrested just this week for alleged school threats in the West Valley.

On Sunday, a 12-year-old Buckeye girl was arrested for allegedly making a terroristic threat against a school in Wisconsin.

And last week, a teenage boy was arrested for allegedly making mass shooting threats against 12 Phoenix-area schools and a 12-year-old Apache Junction girl was arrested for posting a school threat on social media.
