Emergency crews rescue senior man from South Mountain hiking trail

PHOENIX — A senior man fell and was suffering from heat-related issues while on a Phoenix hiking trail Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Rescue crews hiked to find the man on South Mountain Desert Classic trail around 9:40 a.m., according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

After evaluating him, first responders decided he needed to be airlifted off the trail.

A Firebird helicopter with the Phoenix Police Department transported the man to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

No other details about the mountain rescue were made available.
