Man arrested in connection with April murder of 23-year-old man in Phoenix

An arrest was made Tuesday in the April murder of 23-year-old Titus Thomas Jr., authorities announced.

An arrest was made Tuesday in the April murder of 23-year-old Titus Thomas Jr., authorities announced.

The Phoenix Police Department took 24-year-old Steve Andy Garcia into custody in connection with the homicide.

Authorities noted that multiple firearms were recovered during his arrest.

He was booked into jail on two counts of kidnapping, first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, discharging a firearm at a residence and possession of a weapon by a prohibited person. Garcia’s bond was set at more than $1.5 million.

Details on the April murder

On April 10, officers were called to the area of Indian School Road and 83rd Avenue for a shooting around 3:30 p.m.

Thomas Jr. was pronounced dead by the Phoenix Fire Department after being found with at least one gunshot wound.

At the time, authorities said that the suspect had fled before police arrived.
