Man hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after shooting involving Avondale police

A man was left with non-life-threatening injuries Thursday afternoon after a shooting involving Avondale police officers in Litchfield Park, authorities said.

The incident took place at a residence near Dysart and Camelback roads around 1:35 p.m., according to the Avondale Police Department. Officers responded to the home to serve a court order.

The shooting took place after police entered the home and encountered the man, who was armed.

Police said the man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment after receiving first aid at the scene.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

The Goodyear Police Department is investigating the shooting as part of the West Valley Incident Response Team.
