PHOENIX — Gov. Doug Ducey said Thursday that East Coast financial services giant Voya will be temporarily setting up shop in Tempe and bringing along many jobs.
“One thousand new jobs in back office and customer support operations for retirement and benefits management, human resources, finance support operations and information technology,” Ducey said during a press conference in at the Arizona Capitol.
Voya is a Fortune 500 company with $8.6 billion in 2017 revenue.
Ducey touted factors like an attractive cost of living with bringing businesses to the state.
“It’s not the fact that we pay people less. It costs less to live here. It’s a better quality of life. There’s more economic attractiveness,” he said.
Company officials said they are still deciding on a final site for their Valley operations.
The state gave Voya a $9.5 million tax credit for coming here and a $1 million grant.
