Car crashes 150 feet off side of South Mountain in Phoenix

A car crashed off the side of South Mountain in Phoenix on Monday night, authorities said.

Technical rescue crews responded around 8 p.m. to reports of a car crashing and landing off the road at Telegraph Pass. They found the vehicle 150 feet down the side of the mountain, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

The woman inside the car was able to get herself out safely. However, she was in a steep area so crews used ropes to get her back up to the road before she was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, fire officials said.

It is not clear what led to the crash.
