Temperatures began to jump on Friday when thermometers hit 96 degrees and then leaped up to 103 degrees on Saturday.
Those increases led to an excessive heat warning for Sunday, which turned out to be well-warranted.
The Weather Service reported the high temperature shortly after noon with a warning of the possibility of even higher temperatures, but it did not report anything hotter than the record-breaking 106.
Well it’s just past noon — and Phoenix has already hit 106º. We have a few more hours to get that number even higher. Reminder that an Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for today! #azwx
