Here are the best Phoenix-area restaurants to celebrate Cinco de Mayo
PHOENIX — The annual celebration of Cinco de Mayo kicks off on Saturday, which means that residents across Arizona will be running to their nearest Mexican restaurant to indulge in the finest food and drinks that the state has to offer.
For those who were not aware, Cinco de Mayo is not the Mexican Independence Day, but is actually the day to commemorate the country’s 1862 victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla.
Luckily, the Phoenix area has plenty of Mexican food joints that will be sure to fulfill all your Cinco de Mayo needs.
And if you indulge a little too much, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has partnered with ride-sharing service Lyft to offer party goers a discounted ride until Saturday.
First-time users can enter the promo code “CINCOPHX” to get $5 off their first four rides, while existing users can use “CINCOPHX18” to get 20 percent off two rides.
Here are some of the best Mexican spots in the Phoenix area, according to the food and culture website Thrillist.
