Owner of one of two cars submerged after powerful thunderstorms hit the Phoenix area Tuesday morning
"As soon as we went in, car died and just slid." Kyle thought the water wasn't as deep as it turned out to be. Moments later, his white car stalled in the flooding, with his dad beside him.
He told KTAR's Colton Krolak that water splashed onto the windshield "like hitting a brick wall." He and his father escaped through the driver’s door before the water rose further.
"We just, luckily, got out in time before it got worse and it was higher."
Kyle's car was one of two vehicles submerged as powerful thunderstorms hit the Phoenix area Tuesday morning. Heavy rain created hazardous driving conditions across the Valley, leaving some roads impassable.
