PHOENIX — Three people were killed overnight in what appeared to be a double-murder suicide in Phoenix, authorities said.

Officers responded to the area near 19th Avenue and Buckeye Road shortly before midnight and found 38-year-old Eric Sands in front of an apartment who had been shot to death, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

A witness told authorities they saw suspect Taffari Celestine, 24, force Danica Aiken, 29, inside the apartment and then heard shots, police said.

The Special Assignment Unit entered the apartment and found Aiken shot to death and Celestine was dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police said the investigation indicates the suspect is the ex-boyfriend of Aiken and the man who was dead outside of the apartment was her current boyfriend.
