Noche UFC breaks Desert Diamond Arena’s all-time gross record

Noche UFC on Saturday became Desert Diamond Arena’s highest-grossing single-day event.

It also claimed UFC’s highest domestic fight night gate with ticket sales totaling $4,436,470.

The event, which served as UFC’s Mexican Independence Day celebration, had more than 16,928 attendees.

“NOCHE UFC was a defining night for Desert Diamond Arena and the city of Glendale,” Nick Byer, general manager of Desert Diamond Arena for Legends Global, said in a news release. “This historic result speaks to the passion of UFC fans, the strength of this market and the exceptional work of everyone who brought the event to life. It was a landmark night for our arena, our partners and the city of Glendale.”

Ticket sales alone were enough to break the venue’s record before any fights began. The card was headlined by Jean Silva and Jose Delgado. Silva won with a submission via rear-naked choke in round three.

Noche UFC was the first UFC event at Desert Diamond Arena. It is one of seven live events across UFC, WWE, PBR and Zuffa Boxing that will be held in Arizona over the next three years as part of a partnership between TKO and the Arizona Sports and Events Alliance.

WWE Royal Rumble will be at State Farm Stadium in February. PBR World Finals: Championship then returns to Desert Diamond Arena in May.

“Seeing NOCHE UFC set new benchmarks for UFC and Desert Diamond Arena is a tremendous reflection of the demand for major events in Arizona and the excitement surrounding our partnership with TKO,” CEO of the Arizona Sports & Events Alliance Jay Parry said. “Arizona continues to show that fans will turn out for world-class events, and this record-setting night is a strong start to the incredible lineup still ahead.”
