1 dead, 1 in critical condition after shooting in East Valley

One person died and another was hospitalized after a shooting in the East Valley overnight, authorities said.
Deputies responded to the area of Avenida del Yaqui and Calle Guadalupe for reports of two people suffering from gunshot wounds just after 2:45 a.m., according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
When they arrived at the scene, they found the victims in the roadway.
The person who was taken to the hospital sustained life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have not identified a suspect in connection with the East Valley shooting.
