Here’s what KTAR sounded like on the radio over the past 100 years

PHOENIX — KTAR listeners in 2022 are accustomed to the crystal clear voices of hosts, anchors, reporters and others coming over the airwaves.

The progression to modern day radio didn’t happen overnight, however.

KTAR started broadcasting in 1922. Naturally, there weren’t cutting-edge studios and other technologies available 100 years ago.

Even so, KTAR carved itself out as a trusted voice in the Valley, capturing the most newsworthy events across metro Phoenix, Arizona, nationally and internationally.
