Motorcyclist dead after crashing into tree in Phoenix neighborhood

PHOENIX — A motorcyclist is dead after crashing into a tree in a Phoenix neighborhood Sunday evening, authorities said.

Jose Moraga-Garcia, 43, was pronounced after the motorcycle struck a curb and ran into the tree near 15th and Chambers streets at about 10:10 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Moraga-Garcia and a passenger, also a male, were taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Initial information suggests alcohol as a factor in the crash, according to police.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
