PHOENIX — A suspect was arrested Tuesday after he threatened to commit a school shooting at a West Valley university, police said.

Tony Tran, 30, was arrested and charged with one count of terrorism, terroristic threats and interfering with an educational institution.

Glendale Police were informed of a social media message from Tran where he stated in a video message that he was planning to commit the shooting at 10 a.m. at the university.

Tran, a student, was recently suspended from school and wasn’t allowed on campus. He also had a meeting planned with two of the school administrators at 10 a.m. Monday.

Detectives located Tran at a gas station in Tempe around 9 a.m. as he was heading in the direction of the school.

A loaded handgun was found in his vehicle at the time of his arrest, police said.
