PHOENIX — A Scottsdale woman accused of voting in the name of her deceased mother has been indicted by a state grand jury.
Tracey Kay McKee was indicted on May 4 with one count of illegal voting and one count of perjury for allegedly casting a vote in the name of her deceased mother through an early ballot in the 2020 General Election, according to a press release Monday from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
The indictment alleges McKee signed the name of her mother who died on Oct. 5, 2020, to an early ballot envelope on or between Oct. 7, 2020, and Nov. 3, 2020.
McKee pleaded not guilty on June 30, according to court case information.
Her next court appearance is set for Aug. 11 in Maricopa County Superior Court, according to the release.
The case was investigated and prosecuted by the Arizona Attorney General’s Office’s Election Integrity Unit, which was established during the 2019 legislative session to support the state legislature in combating reports of voter and election-related fraud.
There are currently five active election-related criminal cases in Superior Courts statewide, according to the release.
