2 pilots uninjured in north Phoenix helicopter’s hard landing

Two pilots escaped injury after a helicopter made a hard landing Thursday morning in north Phoenix.

Phoenix fire crews were dispatched around 10 a.m. to the area of Cave Creek Road and Dove Valley Road following a report of a downed aircraft.

When firefighters arrived, they found the helicopter intact on the ground. There was no fire, and no one else was injured.

The pilots described the incident as a “hard landing,” meaning the helicopter touched down with greater force or speed than during a normal landing. Although a hard landing can damage an aircraft and requires inspection, it doesn’t necessarily mean the helicopter crashed.

Both pilots declined medical evaluation. Officials were working with the Federal Aviation Administration to transfer control of the scene and investigate the incident.
