Latter Day-Saints church reveals location of new temple coming to East Valley

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the location and preliminary plans for its future Queen Creek Arizona Temple.

The temple will be built on 15.5 acres near Ironwood and Queen Creek roads. Plans call for a temple of around 82,000 square feet, along with a meetinghouse and an additional support building.

LDS temples are considered sacred places of worship and are used for religious ceremonies distinct from regular Sunday services. The meetinghouse planned for the property will serve as a more traditional location for weekly worship and other congregational activities.

The church announced the Queen Creek temple in 2024.

It is one of three planned temples in Arizona, along with projects in Flagstaff and Yuma. However, church officials have not released a timeline for their completion.

Arizona is already home to six operating temples in Gilbert, Mesa, Phoenix, Snowflake, the Gila Valley and Tucson. More than 442,000 Latter-day Saints worship in nearly 900 congregations across the state.
