Crash causes delays on southbound Interstate 17 north of Phoenix area

Drivers were experiencing delays late Thursday morning after a crash on southbound Interstate 17 north of the Phoenix area, authorities said.

The freeway was temporarily closed at milepost 250 near Bumble Bee, about 55 miles north of downtown Phoenix, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The wreckage was moved to the side, allowing vehicles to get through, but traffic was backed up for several miles as of 11:30 a.m.

Northbound traffic was not affected by the collision.
