PHOENIX – A couple’s argument over cigarettes led to the arrest of a Phoenix man accused of firing nearly a dozen times in his girlfriend’s direction, police said.
Phoenix Police Department officers arrested Raymond White, 47, late Monday. He faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm within city limits, disorderly conduct, unlawful imprisonment and threatening/intimidation.
Police said White shot near his girlfriend, whose name has not been made public, up to 10 times after she refused to go to the store to buy him cigarettes.
The woman said White pulled a handgun from his hip holster and pointed it at her.
She ran into the bedroom and hid behind the bed and said White fired around her.
The woman called 911 and White surrendered to police after telling detectives he blacked out and didn’t remember what happened.
