2 injured, 1 detained after fight escalates into stabbing in Mesa

Two men were hospitalized Tuesday night after a fight turned into a stabbing in Mesa, authorities said.

Officers were called to the area of Crismon Road and Coralbell Avenue, near Skyline Park, for reports of a fight involving multiple people around 7:30 p.m., according to the Mesa Police Department.

When police arrived at the scene, they found two men with injuries that authorities described as being consistent with stab wounds.

One man was taken to a hospital in stable but critical condition. Meanwhile, the other’s injuries were considered non-life-threatening.

There is no ongoing threat to the community.

A person was detained in connection with the incident and police are working to determine their involvement.
