3 killed in fiery one-car crash in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Three people were killed in a fiery car crash early Sunday on a Phoenix street, police said.
A man and two women died in the single-car accident near 51st Avenue and Elliot Road about 3 a.m., Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said in an email.
The car was burning when officers and a Phoenix Fire Department crew arrived. The man who had been driving and the two passengers were dead in the car, Fortune said.
Investigators said it appeared the driver lost control of the car and crashed into a concrete drainage ditch.
Police said evidence at the scene indicated speed was a factor.
The names of the three were being withheld until relatives were informed.
No other details were available.
