PHOENIX — Record-breaking summer temperatures in the Valley caused a small fire at a Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers located in north Scottsdale last week.
On Tuesday, a fire broke out in a storage room behind the burger joint on 18529 N. Scottsdale Road after a linen basket was exposed to a hot metal door handle, according to a press release.
After the restaurant was evacuated, the Scottsdale Fire Department extinguished the blaze, which resulted in minor damage.
There were no injuries sustained by either restaurant patrons or staff.
The restaurant was forced to temporarily close as a result.
“We’re very glad no one was injured and that the damage wasn’t too severe given it could have been much worse,” Founder of Square One Concepts S. Barrett Rinzler said in the release.
“We hope to be back open very soon and to welcome our customers back…”
On the same day of the fire, the National Weather Serviced said the city of Phoenix was in the midst of its hottest summer to date.
