Delays on northbound I-17 near Black Canyon City due to motorcycle crash

PHOENIX — There were “extreme” delays on the Northbound 17 near Black Canyon City Saturday afternoon, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced.
The delays were due to a crash involving a motorcycle that occurred near Sunset Point around 9 a.m.
Milepost 252, between Black Canyon City and Cordes Lakes, was closed for a short period of time. It was reopened shortly around 9:36 a.m.
The crash is no longer blocking the road, but traffic remained backed and did not return to the normal flow until around 1 p.m.
Southbound lanes were unaffected by the crash or delays.

ADOT had recommended a detour using State Route 87 to 260 westbound and then re-entering the I-17 at Camp Verde.
This is the second day in a row that this area on the I-17 had a brief closure.
On Friday, it was shut down due to a disabled semi-truck just south of sunset point.
