PHOENIX – The Children’s Museum of Phoenix is letting parents bring the summer camp home to their kids in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Camp in a Box is designed for children ages 4-10 and will be offered in June and July.

“Our Camp in a Box virtual camps will give kids super engaging, fun play experiences at home — it’s going to be like having a little slice of the Children’s Museum come to you,” Children’s Museum CEO Kate Wells said in a press release.

Each box includes an instruction guide, schedule, project supplies, art martials and access to virtual content for each week’s theme.

The virtual component will include five days of pre-recorded content with camp counsellors leading different activities like movement, STEM activities, story time, creative projects and more.

Campers will also have the opportunity to join in on live content with staff and special guests each week.

Camp in a Box themes include the World of Magic and Fantasy; Going, Going, Green; Dinosaur Discovery; and Cosmic Cadets.

Each box is $129 for non-members and $99 for members.

Boxes can be picked up curbside at the museum or delivered for a $25 fee.

According to the release, the museum is also planning to run onsite camps alongside virtual camps in July if the museum is able to open, but a reopening date has yet to be announced.

We want to hear from you.
