PHOENIX — Phoenix police say they believe a man who was shot had been banging on people’s homes asking for help before officers found him dead Monday.
Sgt. Maggie Cox told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Tuesday that they received calls about a residential burglary near Palm Lane and 27th Avenue around 3:45 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found Jason Robinson, 43, with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on scene.
“We believe at this time that he was asking for help. We don’t believe that he was trying to commit a burglary,” Cox said.
She asked anyone living in the area to check their home surveillance footage for anything suspicious.
“Right now we are working to gather any information on a suspect,” Cox said.
She asked anyone with information on the incident to call Phoenix Police at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
