Phoenix police looking for suspects in 2 unrelated homicides

Suspect in Jaguar Club homicide (Phoenix Police Sketch)

How closely do you pay attention to the vehicles around you?  It may play a big part in solving the murder of 26-year-old Danzail Walton on Saturday, July 20, 2019.

“Mr. Walton was leaving the Jaguar Club and that’s when this happened,” says Phoenix Police Sgt. Jamie Rothschild. “It was about 2 o’clock in the morning.”

The club is on the southbound Interstate 17 frontage road near McDowell Road.

Sgt. Rothschild says, “Danzail was shot and killed by someone who was in a silver, gray or dark-color four-door car.  It was possibly a Chevy Malibu or Impala.”

With that suspect vehicle was another vehicle described as a blue four-door.  Investigators are having trouble getting true descriptions of the vehicles because at 2 a.m., the lighting was dim.

Walton had recently come from California with his wife and kids, and his family tells police this is probably one of the first times he went out since he moved here.

“So he really didn’t know anybody and that’s why we’re trying to figure out what happened,” says Sgt. Rothschild.

Our next case takes us to a neighborhood near South Mountain on Monday, May 20, 2019.  It was just before 11 p.m. near 10th Avenue and Dobbins Road.

Jalen Terrell, 18, and a couple of his buddies were walking south on 10th Avenue when somebody began shooting at them.

“They began to run away from the gunfire,” says Sgt. Rothschild. “But unfortunately, Jalen was hit and later died from his injuries.”

There’s a person of interest police would like to talk to.  A Hispanic man with tattoos wearing a gray hoodie was in nearby restaurant parking lot at the time of the shooting.  He may have seen something or have information.

Meanwhile, investigators are baffled as to why someone would shoot at the boys.
