PHOENIX — Nearly 100 Arizona State University students who attend the university under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program will have their renewal fees completely paid for, The State Press reported.
The university announced it partnered with two foundations that will help cover the renewal costs over the next six months. The university has not confirmed which foundations are involved because they “requested anonymity as a stipulation of their donation.”
While the university did not announce how much it would cost in total, the application fee is $495 and ASU President Michael Crow told The State Press that the two partners will fundraise “whatever it takes to pay.”

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, also known as DACA, was an Obama-era program that granted temporary work permits to undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children.
Trump announced on Sept. 5 that he would put an end to the program, leaving a six-month window to allow Congress to decide whether it wants to write and approve legislation to protect the so-called DREAMers.
As of now, DACA recipients whose status will expire between Sept. 5 and March 5, 2018, will be able to apply for renewal by Oct. 5. According to Living United for Change in Arizona, recipients should mail their packets by Oct. 2 to get it in on time.
According to an ASU spokesperson, there are 260 DACA students who are currently attending ASU, and about 100 of them will need to reapply this year.
