Weekend construction closes lanes on four Valley freeways

Loop 101, SR 51, Loop 303 and Loop 202 all lose lanes from Friday night to 5 a.m. Monday. ADOT lists detours through Tempe, north Phoenix and Gilbert.

Construction projects will shut down lanes on Loop 101, State Route 51, Loop 303 and Loop 202 Santan Freeway this weekend, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.

The traffic authority broke down the different closures in its weekly travel advisory.

Southbound Loop 101 Price Freeway closes for pavement work through Monday

Southbound Loop 101 shuts down between Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway and Rio Salado Parkway in the Tempe area from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a pavement improvement project.

Southbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Thomas, McDowell and McKellips roads will close starting at 8 p.m. The southbound Loop 101 ramps to Loop 202 in both directions will remain open.

ADOT suggests ways around the closures by using local streets, including southbound Scottsdale Road or Alma School Road.

Northbound SR 51 narrows to two lanes for pavement work

Northbound SR 51 will be narrowed to two lanes between Northern Avenue and Shea Boulevard from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a pavement improvement project.

Northbound Interstate 17 is available as an alternate freeway route to north Phoenix.

Starting overnight into Monday, northbound SR 51 will be narrowed to two lanes around the clock from Highland Avenue to Camelback Road for approximately seven weeks as crews replace old, worn pavement.

Eastbound Loop 303 closes for freeway widening in North Phoenix

Eastbound Loop 303 shuts down between 43rd Avenue and Interstate 17 in northwest Phoenix from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a freeway widening project.

Traffic can exit to northbound 43rd Avenue and take eastbound Dove Valley Road for access to I-17.

Loop 202 Santan Freeway widening project brings closures to the East Valley

Crews continue working along the eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway for an ongoing widening project. That work closes the freeway between Gilbert Road and Williams Field Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

ADOT suggests using northbound Gilbert Road to eastbound Williams Field Road to reconnect with Loop 202.

The westbound I-10 ramp to eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway will also close from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday for preliminary work on a future project. Drivers can use westbound I-10 to eastbound Chandler Boulevard to southbound Kyrene Road as a detour.
