Main roadway between Maricopa and metro Phoenix reopens after fatal incident

A section of State Route 347, the main roadway between Maricopa and metro Phoenix, was closed for several hours after a fatal incident Tuesday morning, authorities said.
A pedestrian was struck and killed near milepost 187 in Sacaton just after 4 a.m., according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
SR 347 was shut down in both directions between Riggs Road and Interstate 17 for the investigation. The roadway reopened just before 8 a.m., according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
UPDATE: Both directions of SR 347 have reopened.
