Powerball tickets from Gilbert, Scottsdale win big prizes in latest drawing

PHOENIX – Two Valley lottery players won big prizes in Saturday’s Powerball drawing.

The lucrative tickets were purchased at the Fry’s Marketplace at Gilbert and Baseline roads in Gilbert and the Superpumper gas station on Scottsdale Road just north of Pinnacle Peak Road in Scottsdale.

Both entries matched four of the five white numbers — 5, 19, 21, 28 and 64 — plus the red Powerball of 14.

That combo is good for $50,000, but the Gilbert player added the Power Play option to triple the payout to $150,000.

How to play Powerball in Arizona

Powerball is a multistate game of chance with drawings every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday night. Entries cost $2 and can be purchased at over 3,000 retailers around Arizona.

The Power Play add-on costs an extra $1. The multiplier amount is randomly selected before each drawing and increases most non-jackpot payouts by two, three, four, five or 10 times.

The jackpot went unclaimed Saturday and will rise to an estimated $137 million ($61.9 million cash value) for Monday’s drawing.

The odds of winning the game’s top prize are 1 in over 292 million.
