Phoenix police search for footage of West Valley shootout that left 1 woman dead, teen hospitalized

PHOENIX — Police are looking for video of an early Sunday morning West Valley shootout after a woman died and a teen boy was hospitalized, according to authorities.

Amanda Franco, 21, was shot in a neighborhood near 35th Avenue and McDowell Road.

How did Phoenix police learn about shootout?

Officers responded to a call about gunfire at 2 a.m. and found Franco on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

As officers arrived, they saw a large group of people fleeing and driving off from a massive house party, according to authorities. Firefighters arrived on scene to render aid to Franco, however she died of her injuries at the scene.

Police searched the neighborhood for witnesses, but no arrests were made. Officers found 300 bullet casings from the gunfight that hit multiple homes and cars, according to police.

Officers learned about a teen boy, who was hospitalized for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound from the same shootout, according to police.

Detectives took over the investigation, spoke to witnesses and searched for video of the gunfight. A preliminary investigation found the shootout started after a fight broke out at the house party and occurred outside in front of the house.

Detectives believe there are people who recorded the shootout and there may be video of the moments before it happened.

Police are asking anyone who may have footage of the incident to send in to investigators.
