Officer-involved shooting in Tolleson leaves man in critical condition

PHOENIX – An officer-involved shooting in Tolleson on Friday morning left a man in critical condition, according to authorities.

The shooting took place near 91st Avenue and Buckeye Road, and the suspect was later identified as 35-year-old Ricky Barron. As of Saturday morning, Barron remains hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said.

What led up to the officer-involved shooting in Tolleson?

According to ABC15, at approximately 2 a.m., officers had followed a truck into the parking lot of a nearby business when a confrontation occurred, resulting in two officers firing their weapons. Barron was hit by the gunfire and taken to a hospital. No officers were injured.

The Buckeye Police Department will oversee the investigation as part of the West Valley Incident Response Team.

Buckeye police said they have yet to search Barron’s vehicle and have not recovered a weapon.
