Bicyclist dead after being struck by 2 vehicles, 1 suspect remains outstanding

PHOENIX — A female bicyclist was hit and killed by two vehicles in the West Valley on Friday night and one suspect involved remains outstanding, the Phoenix Police Department said.

At about 11:15 p.m., Phoenix police responded to the area of 91st and Highland avenues and came to the aid of 55-year-old Stephanie Fisher lying on the road. After attempting to resuscitate Fisher, officers determined she had died from her injuries.

Both vehicles involved in the collision had already left the scene when police arrived.

In the hours following, Phoenix police were notified that one of the vehicle drivers responsible for the bicyclist’s death had admitted to their involvement via a phone call. The driver, who is an adult female, was located and arrested.

However, the second vehicle driver has not been found, according to authorities.

Detectives learned that the now-detained driver had “showed signs of impairment.” The driver was released after authorities took a blood sample, and its results will determine what they may be charged with.

Phoenix police are actively searching for the second driver involved in the hit-and-run collision.
