Phoenix collision leaves 1 dead, another seriously hurt

PHOENIX — One man is dead and another is seriously hurt after a crash in Phoenix on Friday night, authorities said.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a call around 8:47 p.m. regarding a single-vehicle crash near Williams Drive and Black Canyon Highway.

Upon arrival, police officers and Phoenix Fire Department personnel found the driver, 56-year-old Ricardo Campos Garcia, and another man with serious injuries. They were both taken to a hospital, where Garcia was later pronounced dead. The other man, whose identity has not been revealed, remains in the hospital in serious condition.

Upon investigation, authorities believe that Garcia had failed to yield to a stop sign in the area and crashed into a wall. Authorities added that speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
