Motorcyclist dead after afternoon crash in downtown Phoenix

PHOENIX — A motorcyclist is dead after colliding with a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in downtown Phoenix, authorities said.

Officers responded around 2 p.m. to the area of 7th and Grant streets, which is just south of Chase Field, for reports of a motorcycle crash.

The motorcyclist, later identified as 65-year-old Michael Duane Pryor, was traveling south on 7th Street before hitting the vehicle in the intersection of 7th and Grant, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Pryor was taken to a nearby hospital and did not recover from his injuries.

The vehicle was reportedly traveling eastbound on Grant Street and attempting to turn right on 7th Street when the crash occurred.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

No other details were provided in this ongoing investigation.
