Pedestrian dead after getting hit by car while crossing street in Phoenix

A male pedestrian is dead after being struck by a car while crossing a street in Phoenix on Tuesday, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A male pedestrian is dead after being struck by a car while crossing a street in Phoenix on Tuesday, authorities said.

Police responded to a call near the area of 36th Avenue and Buckeye Road at around midnight, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers found Cesar Martinez-Delgadillo, 50, with injuries. Efforts were made to save Martinez-Delgadillo’s life, but he died on scene due to his injuries.

Upon investigation, authorities learned Martinez-Delgadillo attempted to cross Buckeye Road outside of the marked crosswalk when the vehicle hit him. 

The driver, identified as an adult male, stayed on scene following the crash. Authorities said he showed no signs of impairment.
