PHOENIX — 2025 is shaping up to be a big year for improvement projects on the Interstate 40 and US 93 corridors in northwestern Arizona.
In fact, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is managing over 20 ongoing and upcoming projects along the main motorways between metro Phoenix and Las Vegas.
The first new initiative of the new year will be an $80.6 million project to widen 4 miles of US 93 between Wikieup and I-40 from two undivided lanes to four divided lanes.
It’s the next step of a long-term plan to create a four-lane divided highway over the full 200 miles of US 93 between Wickenburg and Nevada. Construction is set to begin in January and continue into 2026.
Improvement projects in Kingman to continue
Further along the route from the Valley to Las Vegas, work will continue on a new I-40 interchange at US 93 in Kingman. The $106 million project started in mid-2024 and is expected to last until 2027.
Under the current configuration, traffic through the area has to stop at a signal where Beale Street crosses I-40. The new interchange will allow traffic to flow freely between I-40 and US 93.
Construction will also continue on a new I-40 interchange at Rancho Santa Fe Parkway. The $44 million project is designed to relieve congestion at the Andy Devine Avenue interchange and improve access to the Kingman Airport.
What else is ADOT planning for northwestern Arizona in 2025
In addition to the above-mentioned plans, ADOT has several other I-40 and US 93 projects that will start and/or conclude in 2025:
- Multiple paving projects totaling 32 miles of I-40 spread between the Kingman area and the Arizona/California state line are scheduled to wrap up.
- The new Andy Devine Avenue bridge deck in Kingman will be finished.
- Work on a 23-miles paving project on US 93 near Chloride is set to begin in 2025 and conclude in 2026.
- A new paving project on a 13-mile segment of US 93 near Wikeiup is expected to start and end in 2025.
