Woman arrested in connection with fatal hit-and-run collision in Phoenix

PHOENIX – A woman was arrested Tuesday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision in Phoenix last month, authorities said.

Deena Jean Marie Kneece, 19, was booked into jail on one count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Her arrest is related to a deadly vehicle-pedestrian collision the morning of Feb. 27.

What did police say about fatal hit-and-run collision?

Aaron Hornedo, 36, was walking in a marked crosswalk at 35th and Peoria avenues just after 6 a.m. when he was struck by two vehicles that fled the scene, police said.

Hornedo died of his injuries after being taken to a hospital.

Detectives worked to identify Kneece as one of the suspects.

During an interview, she allegedly admitted she was involved in a collision in the area, according to police.

The investigation into the fatal hit-and-run collision is ongoing.
