Driver arrested in connection to fatal collision in southwest Phoenix that left 1 dead

PHOENIX — A woman was arrested in connection to a fatal collision that occurred west of downtown Phoenix on Tuesday evening, authorities said.

Robbin Oliver, 35, was arrested for the deadly collision that left a man dead, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers were called to a collision involving four vehicles that shut down Buckeye Road at 40th Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When police arrived, they found an adult male suffering from critical injuries.

He was taken to the hospital by Phoenix Fire where he died. The victim was later identified as the front passenger of Oliver’s car.

Detectives arrived and learned that Oliver had been driving her vehicle east on Buckeye Road when she struck the side of a vehicle.

Following the collision, Oliver continued to drive east and proceeded to hit a tow truck that was stopped at an active train crossing near 40th Avenue and Buckeye Road. Debris from the collision caused minor damage to a third vehicle.

During the investigation, detectives noticed Oliver showing signs of intoxication and processed her for a DUI.

Oliver was booked into Maricopa County Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter and endangerment.
