Police identify man struck by multiple vehicles on Interstate 10 in Phoenix

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Public Safety has identified the body that was found on Interstate 10 earlier this month.

Lindbert Johnson, 60, was found on the I-10 the morning of June 3, according to DPS.

A state trooper “determined there were human remains belonging to an individual who had been struck by multiple vehicles,” DPS spokesman Raul Garcia said in a media advisory at the time.

The department said that Johnson appeared to be transient, but his last known address was in Phoenix.

According to DPS, it has received several tips but no credible lead. The department is still following up on tips from people who claimed to have run over body parts as well evidence that was found at the scene.

Troopers responded to eastbound I-10 just west of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport around 5 a.m. after several vehicles were seen stopped on the left shoulder near the Washington Street/Jefferson Street off-ramp.

It’s not clear how the body ended up on the freeway or whether any of the vehicles that stopped were involved in the incident.

The Vehicular Crimes Unit of the DPS Highway Patrol Division is leading the investigation.
