Police investigating after man dies in central Phoenix shooting

An investigation is underway after police found a man who died after being shot in central Phoenix on Saturday, authorities said.

PHOENIX — An investigation is underway after police found a man who died after being shot in central Phoenix on Saturday, authorities said.

Officers were near Buckeye Road and 16th Avenue around 9:45 p.m. when they heard several gunshots and began searching the area.

They located 40-year-old Anthony Ray Vaughn with at least one gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead upon the arrival of the Phoenix Fire Department.

Detectives are working to piece together what led to the shooting.
