1 dead, 2 injured in early morning apartment shooting in Tempe

One man has died and two men were left with injuries early Friday morning after an apartment shooting in Tempe.

PHOENIX — One man has died and two men were left with injuries early Friday morning after an apartment shooting in Tempe, according to authorities.

Police responded to the area of Lemon Street and Dorsey Lane around 4 a.m. for reports of a shooting, according to the Tempe Police Department.

They found three men with gunshot wounds and all were taken to a nearby hospital by the Tempe Fire Medical Rescue. One man, 33-year-old Adrian Alfredo Ruiz, died from his injuries while the other two men are in stable condition, police said.

Tempe PD said Ruiz entered the apartment through a broken window and was confronted by 22-year-old Schon Nicholas Rhode, with the two exchanging gunfire.

Rhode and 21-year-old Gavin Scott Van Tassel were identified as the two men with injuries not expected to threaten their lives.
