Trader Joe’s sets opening date for new West Valley store

PHOENIX — The first Trader Joe’s in Goodyear is opening on Friday.

The crew at the new grocery store near Bullard Avenue and McDowell Road will start the grand opening ceremony shortly before 8 a.m., which is when the store officially opens for business.

The 9,600-square-foot store at 14770 W. McDowell Road is within the new GSQ shopping center.

Crew at Goodyear Trader Joe’s to host a ribbon-cutting

Doors will open after the 7:55 a.m. ribbon-cutting.

The Goodyear Trader Joe’s will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

A Monday announcement from the company said this new location has strengthened the local community’s job market by hiring over 40 people from surrounding areas. The rest of the staff was transferred from existing Trader Joe’s stores.

Additionally, the company said it will look to help the community by donating all unsold products that are still fit to be consumed to local organizations and nonprofits.

California-based Trader Joe’s, which operates more than a dozen grocery stores across the Valley, evaluates hundreds of neighborhoods across the U.S. to identify ideal sites.

Goodyear had spent years campaigning for a Trader Joe’s, which is among the most requested grocers by local residents, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.
