San Tan toddler drowns during storm

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. – Authorities have identified a boy who was swept
away in a wash behind his San Tan Valley home and died.

“He didn’t have a lot of fear,” said the boy’s uncle, Paul Schrieber. “He loved climbing up on things and he was always kind of precarious. He was just a beautiful, happy little boy with good parents and a good family. We’re just devastated.”

Pinal County sheriff’s spokesman Elias Johnson says 2-year-old Dylan Brown died
Sunday night after being transported to the hospital, where he was taken off life support.

The sheriff’s office identified the boy Monday.

Johnson says a neighbor had called authorities to report the child found in the
wash.

A citizen on an all-terrain vehicle
brought Brown to emergency crews, who then transported him to a local hospital.

“It was just one of those instances where one parent thought he was with the other and it wasn’t so,” said Schrieber. “It’s just one of those things to always have your eye out. It was just a freak accident.”

A memorial fund for Brown has been established at all Desert Schools Federal Credit Union locations under the name of “Dylan Dee Brown.”
