Mesa apartment fire displaces 25 people, damages 13 units

A fire that broke out at a two-story apartment in Mesa displaced 25 people and damaged about 13 units on Sunday morning, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A fire that broke out at a two-story apartment in Mesa displaced 25 people and damaged about 13 units on Sunday morning, authorities said.

Around 11 a.m. the fire started near Main Street and Harris Drive and was beginning to spread north and south before firefighters were to get a “very good stop” on it, according to the Mesa Fire & Medical Department.

No apartment residents or fire personnel were injured in the extinguishing efforts.

Crews are working to access water damage and “re-energizing electricity” in the affected areas.

The fire’s cause is currently being investigated, as Chandler fire personnel also aided Mesa first responders.
