Person found dead inside RV after fire broke out in West Valley

A person was found dead after an RV fire in Wittmann on Monday morning, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

PHOENIX — A person is dead after an RV fire in Wittmann on Monday morning, authorities said.

Emergency crews responded to an area near 211th Avenue and Jomax Road before 5 a.m., according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

First responders later found a person dead inside the RV.

No further details were made available.

Wittmann is a rural community about 35 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix. The unincorporated community has been in the news recently due to conflicts over a proposed $3.2 billion logistics hub by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway.
