A 2-year-old girl died in the hospital after she was pulled out of a backyard pool in Tempe on Monday morning, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A 2-year-old girl died in the hospital after she was pulled out of a backyard pool in Tempe on Monday morning, authorities said.
According to the Tempe Police Department, both officers and the Tempe Fire Department responded to a home near Rural and Carver roads just before 11 a.m.
Police said that it was the girl’s parents who found her in the pool.
She was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later died.
The investigation into the fatal incident is ongoing.
